Time to plan the next meet!!!! :)

Well I figured since it is snowing out that it is time to plan our next meet.......or at least get the ball rolling on it.

I think that we should have it when Hope and Phil are on their way through Calgary so that we can meet up with some of our long distance members. Hopefully mother nature will be nice and we will have some nice weather.

We could meet somewhere central or meet at someone's house and have a BBQ. I have no problem having people up at my place again. Or maybe we can convince Keely to open up that beautiful house of hers...or even Jackie!

Put your thoughts down everyone....and Hope...do you know exactly when you are going to be coming through Calgary?

hey mike! well, we are hoping to be thru there around the end of may, just before our Memorial weekend. judging from the map, calgary is about the half way mark. i think we can make it from London, ON (driving through Northern Canada) in about 3 or 4 days. what do you guys think? we're talking about 14 hr days of driving.

we want to spend one full day in Calgary before we head back out for another 4 days or so drive up the Al-Can Hwy. Looking at the calendar, we're aiming for Weds or Thurs and leave no later than Fri morning. we're looking at May 25-26 and leaving early morning on the 27th (Fri). somewhere there abouts.

right now we've got to get all the pwk in this week and get Phil's Advanced Parole docs so he can leave the US. He has to have travel docs or they will not allow him back into the US, and could face a min of 3 yrs bar from entering back in. so we don't want that.... but we should be ok on pwk if we can get it all in this week.

How long would it take you to drive here anyways? 3-4 days? I kind of got lost half way through your post...sorry!

Nonetheless, party in late May sounds like a plan. Nice weather...hopefully and who ever is in school should be out by then. Sounds like a good time!

Well when you know exactly what day Hope.....we will make plans to have a BBQ that night or to meet somewhere and go eat.

What day are you leaving.....Monday the 23rd or on Sunday the 22nd??

Phil flies down to London on the 15th i think. he's got to go through all his things and figure out what he's bringing since we have to put everything on a custom's form. i fly out that thurs night, 19th, and arrive fri about noon. i'm hoping he'll have everything already packed minus our clothes. we're going to get one of those fabric/foldable car carriers.

we'll be on the road first thing saturday morning the 20th driving from London, ON up through Thunder Bay and on to Calgary. then from Calgary, obviously to Dawson City to hit the Al-Can Hwy.

i need to install my streets and trips software still so we can plot our course. once we do that we can get a better idea of places we hope to stop inbetween, etc. we're taking the scenic route so we only have to cross the border once at the alaskan border and not in detroit and then back up. too much of a pain in the ass and not worth the shorter 2 hrs or so. lol. i think we'd lose that at customs anyways!

but i'll try and give you guys some definite dates as soon as we can! otherwise, i'd say we should be there no later than weds eve (25th) and we'll be leaving first thing that Fri (27th) morning from Calgary. hope that helps!

Anyone have any ideas? A BBQ at my place is good....I have furniture this time. Or we can meet at Carrie's or something and go eat somewhere or have a BBQ there.

Hey guys!! I'm up for whatever. It's probably easier to plan a little closer to when they are getting here. Who knows what the weather will do.

I am selling my house...so I may or may not be able to swing a get-together. But hopefully it's sold by then and I'm not still in the "keep it spotless" stage.

Can't wait to see you again Hope! Sorry I missed your call the other day...we'll have to catch up really soon. I've been really busy with selling my house, getting everything ready for the new house...and my grandma is in the hospital too...just diagnosed with cancer

But I think life will start to settle down again now...phew.

awww... i'm sorry to hear that carrie! i hope it's still in the early stages where things can be done. we'll be flying down to seattle/tacoma this weekend over easter to see my relatives including my great aunt who has a relapse of breast cancer. we don't expect her to live too much longer. and my grandma is also pretty sick (her sister) so i wanted to make sure phil got to meet everyone before they pass on... not a fun thing to think about, but necessary.

as for the house situation, i hope it sells cause we plan to stay with you if possible. lol. otherwise, that's no prob either. you and vince getting a place?? and i need to talk to you about future plans next spring as well. we're getting the travel docs for phil so he can travel in and out of the country... like canada and mexico (hint, hint)

Yeah I hope it sells quickly. I don't think it will be a problem for you guys to stay with me though. It's not like you're staying for a week or anything!

We're planning on having a big open house/housewarming party thing after we move in. The house will hopefully be ready by the end of August...but maybe not until mid-September.

well we got our pwk in last wk, but there is a chance we won't get the travel docs back in time. so i'm hoping we get them before the end of the month, beginning of may otherwise, we can't come.

Yeah, good luck with that paperwork! I guess you can't go get Phil's car until you're sure he's allowed back in the country!
