Yeah that is true. Some people get some gawdy ones that just do not suit the lines of the car that is for sure.

Not to rain on the parade.....but I think that sidemarkers are only made for certain vehicles such as the Celica. But for the Vibe/Matrix......I do not think that it would look good. Just my 2 cents though. Quick chop.

Okay, I'm confused. I thought the clear corners were just the signal lights built into the headlight casing, changed to be clear rather than amber. These sidemarkers are extra lights added and cut into the body?

Yup. You see them a lot on European and Asia-spec'ed cars.

Okay, I'm confused. I thought the clear corners were just the signal lights built into the headlight casing, changed to be clear rather than amber. These sidemarkers are extra lights added and cut into the body? You are right, they are sidemarkers, but in the Celica world the slang term is "corners". They come stock as orange: But most Celica owners (those who mod) change them to clear. We think it looks cleaner. The cops require them to be orange, so that when the car is seen sideways at night the other drivers know it is viewed from the side. Most cars have the headlight assembly wrap around to the side, so the "corner" is part of the headlight and is orange. The Celica had a different headlight assembly that is not vissible form the side. Thus the need for separate corner sidemarkers.

Thanks cooltoy (hereinafter referred to as "CT", in line with my absurd need to abbreviate everyone's names into two letters). So what's happening here is that the Celica already has sidemarkers which are orange. The Vibe doesn't have any, but it would be illegal to change the signal lights we do have in our headlight casing to anything but orange. Is that correct?

You can change the lens to clear (if there is such a thing for your cars) as long as the light shines orange in order to stay legal. Now that does not mean that people do not put white light bulbs behind clear corners, they just stand a risk of getting a ticket (just like full tint). There are silvered light bulbs that appear clear, but shine orange. I did this mod in my front turn signals (they have to be orange): Stock Moded

You can change the casing but the bulb has to be orange. Since I'm a rebel I have clear bulbs in my sidemarkers... but have yet to be pulled over *knock on wood*. Most law abiding citizens have orange bulbs.

Oops... I wrote this before I went to get my lunch... hahaha...
On the vibe the casing has reflective orange pieces... so I don't think it's possible to make them clear.

On the vibe the casing has reflective orange pieces... so I don't think it's possible to make them clear. That's not always true. Just look at Tom's T-bird. He as the same set up as the Vibe, but he ordered a clear replacement assembly. Now I have not looked at the Vibe closely. So if the headlight is one piece, then yes it would not be possible to make the corner clear, but if it is a separate piece, then maybe someone will make it in clear.

It's on the inside... you'd have to crack them open to get it out....
