I took my car in for its six month check up today. I can't believe it's six months old already! ;D They said everything looks good (I would hope so), and I got a free carwash so I don't have to freeze my widdle fingers...woo hoo!

Don't know if it's a Canadian thing...it's in the owners manual I think when you're supposed to get maintenance stuff done. They scheduled it for me when I bought the car though.
Oh ya, and they did a great job on the car wash ;D

I've never let anyone else wash my car - the black paint shows the marks too easily. Not that my car doesn't have swirl marks and such, but I think it's much better off never having gone through a machine car wash.

I've been kinda disappointed with my scheduled services at McKay Pontiac. I think they do OK work (just oil changes), but the place looks old and dirty and my car never gets washed. Maybe I've been spoiled from the service I got when I had my Integra (Silverhill Acura).

Maybe I've been spoiled from the service I got when I had my Integra (Silverhill Acura). Yeah, this was my first time for service at CMP. They did OK, but I was kinda ticked that they didn't mention it was time for a tire rotation... But hey, the complimentary car wash was cool. Do they use machine car washes? Hmm, I usually avoid those, but I guess once or twice a year won't hurt too much.

CMP actually discourages me from letting my car go through their car wash to preserve the paint, so I agree with them. I found that going through the service book with all the little coupons outlining their recommended service options at prescribed intervals helps me know what I need to do and when.

Eeek. Ok, drat. No more free car washes. That paint doesn't need any help looking worse than it does

Yeah, I got dinged for over $40.00 to rotate the tires. Now, I ask exactly what is scheduled for each service. My tires were supposed to be rotated on my 20K visit, but I told them I was putting on winter tires. However, I still haven't decided if I really need them or not.

Yeah, I'm still waffling on the winter tires myself. I think I'll suffer through this winter with the all-seasons. I'm hoping that might encourage me to take the bus a bit more often anyhow.

I know it's been beaten to death on the winter tires thread, but while Carrie might be able to get away without winters, SWiRv, you definitely can't. The Z-rated do absolutely nothing on the snow, period. I'm kinda surprised either of you would compromise in this area when you're willing to spend money upgrading other areas of your car. After all, 5-6 months on your winter tires means that's 5-6 months of wear you're NOT putting on your summer tires, so they will last longer (unless you drive like DJ ). It's a forced payment plan for your next set of tires in a sense, and it improves your safety. Seems like a no-brainer to me.

HUGE difference! plus, it's snowed another 10" today and they are saying possible up to 20" by tomorrow night!!!

I agree Keely that winter tires are important. My point was more that I can take the bus and probably should be on most cold and slippery days.
I spend more time warming the car up and scraping it off than I do actually driving it winter mornings because I only drive 10 minutes to the train station and take the train downtown from there.
And yay!! It's like summer out today, and we haven't had any snow for quite awhile...woo hoo!

I could be wrong on this, but I thought the Bridgestone RE092 were H-rated all-seasons and not Z-rated. My car didn't come with the Dunlops.
