Who here has satellite radio? XM or Sirius? Did you go the FM transmitter route or the tuner box? Do you like it?
I'm considering getting Sirius at some point. Will likely go the aftermarket HU and tuner box so that the sound quality is good.
Hope, do you know if you're able to get signal up north?

You will definitely be able to get the signal for Sirius. They have a satellite around the Hudson Bay area....which is far enough north to transmit up there. I would definitely go the route of the aftermarket head unit and the tuner box. A lot better reception that way. If you are in the market for a HU....I have one that is not even a month old that I had in the Matrix that I no longer need. And I am pretty sure it would use the same wiring harness and dash kit that is in your car now. If you buy it...I will even put it in for you. It would take me all of 20 minutes to put it in.

This is not the exact deck I have. I have last years model, but it has the same specs, just looks a little different. I have the CQ-C8301. www.panasonic.ca/english/car/caraudio/players/cqc8305.aspI would sell it to you for $250 with the dash kit, wiring harness, and the GM Mini-plug adapter, and I will install it for you as well!! I am almost certain that Panasonic has a satellite radio module that you can buy for their decks. I will look around and see if they do.

That's a very nice deck! Thanks for the offer but I just cashed in some Aeroplan miles for a Futureshop gift certificate.
In your Cobalt how do you find the sound quality? It's with a tuner box connected to the factory stereo right? Is it CD quality?

The tuner box is built into the deck itself. The quality is kick ass. Very clear, all the time. And it is XM as well.

Thanks for the info! I would like to get a Sony HU because I've had them in the past and never had any issues with them. But it doesn't look like I can get a Sirius tuner for Sony. According to the Sirius website they only have them for JVC, Panasonic, Kenwood, and Pioneer. Of those, Futureshop sells all but Kenwood (which would be my 2nd choice). So I'm not sure what one I'll get. I've heard good things about JVC and Pioneer but don't care for the look of their decks that are in my price range. The 2007's will be out soon though so I'll check them out.

Go Panasonic. They havce always been a good deck to me. I have also had Kenwood and they are a great unit as well. I have never liked the looks of the Sony or Pioneer decks though. I always found the buttons were really small on those two units.

Thanks for all the info. I imagine it'll take a week or two to get my gift certificate then by that time hopefully they have the new decks out. I'll let you know what I go with.

Well, I'm going to hold off on all this. I'm going to use my Future g-cert on a camera bag. I'm getting tired of carrying my Rebel XT around in a plastic bag.
