DAMN!

So on Monday I took my car to the dealership (stealership is what it should be called), because my shifter was acting up again. For those who did not know what was happening, it was really stiff and was really hard to shift gears, and getting it in reverse, forget it. It was like the clutch was not disengaging.
So the dealer tells me the clutch is trashed. "Abuse" they say. Yeah.......doubt that. In less then 40,000km the TRD clutch is done! If it was abuse, the tires would be gone too but they are more then just fine.
So with the other things I wanted fixed (front sway bar link, exhaust leak, AND new shifter cables), it was going to cost me over $3000 CDN!! NO WAY!! I bitched and complained and told them that I had phoned Toyota Canada already (which I had), and all of a sudden they are going to give me a huge discount on the labour and on all the parts. So now my bill will be $1900!! For everything! And I am buying a Gripforce Stage 2 clutch for the car, which costs $400 less then the TRD clutch, and is much better and can take more power and "abuse".
I should be getting my car back by the middle of next week, and it will be like new. I can't wait!!

Yeah that it is. They do not call them "stealerships" for nothing. The only reason I keep taking it back is that I do not know of a good mechanic here in Calgary that is good with Toyota's, besides the dealership because they know the car better then anyone else.

clutches are tough to argue over since they are normal wear items.

Well to a point. When one goes in less then 40,000km....that is not normal. I know of some guys with XRS's that race their car all the time and they are still on the OEM clutch. Just does not make sense.

Every dealer would tell you that everytime you bring your car in for warranty . I have the same clutch as you bud since November and haven't had any problems. From my point of view, the clutch is good and even better feel than the stock (after a few times stalling her ).

Does it grab really hard? I found that with the TRD I would stall it a lot, and I would really have to rev the car to get it going and have to drag the clutch out a bit too.

It's better than stock as far as I know and no you do not have to rev it up inorder to drive. You need to learn how to drive again for a few days before you'll be pro again ;D.

HAHA Sounds good! I probably will have to get used to the power again. They gave me a Tercel as a courtesy car. UGH. Automatic as well.

Alright! FINALLY got my car back today. $2500 CDN later....but FINALLY got my car back. And the clutch feels better then new! Very little resistance. It definetely feels a lot better then I thought that it would! WOO HOO!!! So this is what was fixed: - clutch - shifter cables - front drivers side wheel bearing - front drivers side sway bar link - exhaust leak.
