I've been thinking about pulling my stock muffler and getting a better one. But, is it worth it. I have a Base vibe with a K&N Typhoon Short Ram intake. ANyway, any suggestions on mufflers? Like brand and good value? Or should I just sit tight on the stock?
Thanks!

The Magnaflow exhaust is good. Vibechick, Keely, and Irvin all have theres done. I did there's and it is quite easy to do and makes quite a difference. DEFINETELY sounds better.

Magnaflow eh? What series would people recommend? round, offset and etc...
The sound on the magnaflow site is pretty sweet. A little ricey, but oh well, I'm driving a rice-mobile.

I did not know that they had different series of exhuasts for the Matrix/Vibe. I had a custom Magnaflow Dual Exhaust put on my 'trix. I like the sound of the magnaflow as well.

I have the Magnaflow catback on my Base Vibe sounds way better and there is a bit of performance gain due to the different silencer and muffler combo. I recommend this whole heartedly.

I second that - a definite performance boost. I did this as my second mod after installing a CAI, and the cat-back did almost as much good again as the CAI did.

does it improve low RPM performance? 90% of the time I never get it over 3200 RPM... So, does it improve at the low RPMs. Especially that first little bit. Already I feel my car is a little sluggish at low RPMs.

Maybe a little.....but not a lot. If you want better low-end performance you would need to up the torque....which if you want significant gains you would need to get a Supercharger.

my unichip also helped out a lot on the lower end torque. much much better. not a sit back in your seat and wet your pants, but noticeable and needed.

Already I feel my car is a little sluggish at low RPMs. What do you mean, you're not getting over 3,200 RPMs? Is this a driving choice or style that you have? I make sure to hit lift once a trip to burn off the build-up, but ordinary driving conditions see me in the 5-6,000 range all the time. If you're not pushing the car, why are you looking at a performance exhaust?

The usual city driving, I don't usually push the car. But I do like to punch it. I really think the little engine is peppy, but seems to really hurt at low RPMs. If I do add something on to the car, I want something that will help it all the way through the torque and hp curves. Not just at the upper end. Really, i don't NEED a performance boost.. I just WANT it. ;D
