Let's talk about weight reduction... some people think rims don't make a huge difference... but I was just reading a post on nc.org and here's what they said... something to consider...
Get lightweigt rims. Every one pound of rotating weight is equal to around 3-4lbs of normal weight, so if you get 15lb rims (stock is 19), you'll be saving around 48-64lbs.
Even taking out the spare is helpful.... gonna have to remember to do that next time.

Absolutely! It has to do with centripital motion. Basically with larger diameter rims, the forces increase towards the edges and it will also put more stress on the lug nuts.
I was comparing silver finished wheels vs. chromed wheels and the chrome alone weighs about a 1.25 lbs. more for the same size wheel. O.Z. Superleggaras are supposed to be very light.

Next time I hit the track I'm going to use my 15's steelies... I have some worn out blizzacks on them... so basically they are all season tires now... I'd probably just put them on the front though. Too much work to do all 4.

It would be better if you did all 4 Jackie....because you would have smaller tires on the front then on the back.....and the tires and rims on the back would weigh more....blah blah blah. You want to reduce weight and get a better time....do all 4. Trust me....it will be worth it.

The price on the OZ rimms isn't cheap I'm going to have to do my homework before I get some.

OZ are Very expensive!!! I almost bought a used set of 18's for $1600 with rubber... but the offset wasn't right.

There seems to be an inverse relationship between lighter wheels and price Maybe next time we should race first then eat ;D My friend who races competitively says that most racers use 15" wheels. Ooops, gotta go!

Why not just put your car on the Atkins diet?

Just remember to run on near empty! The near empty tank (compared to a full tank), could save you 60-80 pounds. We'll call the spare and the empty tank the difference between us, right Irvin?

I do believe that's the difference between our times. I had 3/4 tank of gas, spare, and 2-1/2 hot dogs ;D
