well, since i no longer have mine, i thought i'd ask. who here has had theirs removed and if so, when? plus, any good or funny stories are welcome. as for me, most everyone knows i get mine removed yesterday afternoon. but on monday when i went in, they weren't sure. so i had to get a cat scan done. let me just say that when they say "enima" you should run! that was NOT fun at all!!! but it turned out, that i actually had an ovarian cyst that ruptured right next to my appendics. when they went in they found my appendics was swollen in and in the beginning phases of appendicitis. so either way, it had to come out... lucky me. i'm recooping now, but thought i'd share this wonderful (sense the sarcasm) experience with my friends. lol

Well, Hope, I do have my appendix but I'm minus an ovary due to a cyst I had removed as well - you can read all about it on my website in gory detail. Mine didn't rupture until the surgery, so it was over 5 lbs. at the time - I pretty much delivered a baby except my scar is way bigger! How many staples do you have?

holy crap! 5 lb cyst?? he checked mine out and it was ok, but wanted to make sure it wasn't benign or anything. took out the appendix since it was starting its thing too. but no staples, just 3 small incisions.

Actually, benign is the good stuff, it's a malignant cyst that you don't want. I'm glad you checked out okay - it seems that everywhere I turn these days another woman I know directly or by two degrees of separation has had one, and they almost always are benign.
We're not sure exactly how much the Alien (as I called it) weighed since it ruptured during surgery but we figured it was at least 5 lbs. since I lost 8 right after the surgery. It was 16 x 13 x 7 cm - basically went past my other ovary and was taking up my whole lower abdomen. Let's just say that I wasn't wearing jeans in February! (I had my surgery on Feb. 25) Wasn't looking too purdy, that's for sure.
So when was your surgery? How long before you can get back in the gym? I know how hard you've been working on your fitness (which is clearly paying off, we can all see in the pix), so I bet you're anxious to get back to it.

ya i dropped about 5-8 lbs again after the surgery. had it on july 20. but i'm doing much better now. still, have a tough time if i walk up our 5 flights of stairs in the morn. i need to start back up again though. my one incision still hurts a little at certain angles but for the most part i'm healing up nicely. hoping to get back full force to the gym next month after i get back from my trip to TO

I still have numb spots near the scar and there's scar tissue underneath that gets kinda itchy now - it's pretty weird. I wish I only had a small incision - mine was 17cm, from my belly button all the way down (and 29 staples)! It's good to come back at your own pace, but I think the more you try to do the better you'll feel. I had to really push myself as I needed to be ready to umpire at a field hockey tournament in Barbados (I wasn't missing that trip!!!) that was 7.5 weeks after my surgery date. We have fitnesss testing and everything, so it's not like you can fake the funk if you know what I mean. With such a firm deadline at hand, I had all the motivation I could handle - I think it was more like a blind, desperate panic, actually. So, we're all rooting for ya - don't let a little internal organ revolt take you away from your goals!!!
