I'm sure you all heard about the 4 soldiers who died in a vehicle bomb in Afganistan the other day. I just wanted to bring this up here because one of the guys that died was a friend of mine here in Wainwright.
I'm not sure why I am writing this, it's still a bit of a shock that someone I know got killed overseas, I guess it's not real until it happens to you or someone close to you. A memorial service is being held tomorrow here in Wainwright. I guess I'd just like everyone to know and perhaps have his family in your thoughts. It's going to be really hard for her and her two children.
If you feel the need, the family has indicated that donations can be made to an educational trust fund for his children. These trust funds have been established at the Toronto Dominion Bank in Gananoque, Ontario.
Thanks for listening.
Matt

aww. i'm sorry. it's tough to lose someone in a war. so far, been lucky and no one i care about really. however my good friend's ex husband died in Iraq. i felt bad for her kids more than anything... he was a lousy father and terrible husband. but still, they had a hard time because they don't understand.

The thing that we really need to remember is that these men died protecting and serving our country. I truly appreciate everything that they are doing for us. I thank them all from the bottom of my heart and wish them all the best of luck.

exactly! they are doing a duty that others do not want, putting their lives out for ours. that is the ultimate sacrifice, not only of themselves but of their families and loved ones. i just found out last night my "dad-david" (or close family friend, but i call him dad) is being sent to Iraq for a year.
