Project Car

Well I am thinking of getting a car to be my project car for the next couple of years. Something that I can take my time on. What I want is something that is not that expensive....used of course......and that has lots of aftermarket support. Here are some of my choices:

1)Honda Civic 92-96
2)Nissan 240SX
3)Acura Integra

Anymore thoughts as to other choices I could make?

what! no toyota??

but i think the hondas and acuras are over done. too many on the road! go for the nissan or an older mr2 spyder. ya! now that would be sweet! or old supra, not even the twin turbo.

Yeah true......but again I want something with a fair amount of aftermarket support so that I can do lots to it. I want to get the car for under $5000 also.....that way I am not spending a load of money to buy it in the first place.

aww i see. well, if i were doing a project car, then i'd do one of 2 things:

1. an old 57 chevy bel air, 4 dr auto to fully restore back to original for my dad
2. an older 4 runner to build up for 4x4ing and bogging! whoo hoo! cause i miss taking out my truck and driving over and thru things in the woods!

Why don't you take those 3 cars and make a list of what you hope to achieve by having them as project cars and the decide which would be the most fun/affordable/rewarding for you. Always research the car and availabilty of after market support before tuning it... or you might end up being disappointed...

Oh and unless you are doing a sylvia conversion or something on the 240 I say get a civic... throw a type r engine in there and watch it go.

Was it Custom Auto that sold JDM Honda engines? I've always liked the 90-93 era Civic hatchbacks. I had a 92 Integra GS and I still wish I hadn't sold it.

I was looking at a 93 Civic DX hatchback. Definetely a good project car to look at. Either that or a sedan of the same year.
