Well the WRX here is closer to $36,000 CDN or more. The STi is around $48,000 CDN. So the R/T AWD is looking very good.

Unfortunately to import one in would probably end up costing more then buying from inside Canada.

oh right. you guys gotta pay all your duties and taxes. really a shame since we only bring back the car, show the pwk, make sure it's US DOT approved and voila! of course it depends on the state if they require any licensing fees or taxes at that point, but usually it's not too bad. when we brought phil's vibe over, i think we paid $200 for the tags. no big deal.

I WISH it was that easy here. If that was the case, we all would be buying them from down in the USA!

$130 something every quarter. It sucks, although with the military it's partially subsidised (gotta love gov't jobs).

I think that the Alberta government should pay for the healthcare, and then that way we do not have to pay it, just like many of the other provinces which get free health care.

Actually, I think I read somewhere that the fee we pay doesn't go to health care anyhow. Just general government revenue. Maybe they were hoping that a minimal user fee would stop so many people from abusing the free health care. Who knows Free health care is an evil illusion. It is NOT free, and our current system is not sustainable. They predict that within the next decade, at current growth levels, that health care costs will eat up almost all of the government budget. They have to do something. It was some ridiculous socialist idea to start with, and it can't stay the way it is now. Ok, that was my rant on health care for today. The Caliber has some really neato features...but it's too bad they made it so ugly. bleh. I read a review of the new MazdaSpeed 6, that sounds like a nice little car.

ah interesing! people here in the US scream about how Canada gets "free" healthcare and we do not due to the rising costs (insanely) in the US. however, growing up as a military brat, we had free healthcare and just because it was "free" didn't mean it was good. I'd rather PAY to have a good doctor and health care than just go to the free clinic and get whatever left over. but back on topic.... yes, that mazdaspeed 6 is quite impressive! however, phil says my car (and yours) is still faster due to the lack of low end torque on the 6.

Well, I think "free" would be the wrong term, subsidised would be a better description. If we didnt have the gov't subsidising health care, the cost to the end user would be high, just like in the states with private health care. People with money get better service. Everyone is entitled to good health, not just the rich, therefore we (taxpayers) pay out our butts to continue to have that luxury.
What is needed is Healthcare reform, get rid of the deadbeats that abuse the system and allow the people that really need it to use it.
On the other hand, since heath care is subsidised, the prices are also controlled by the gov't on how much they pay the doctors/hospitals for various treatments. Therefore, if you are a Doc and are in it to make money (or pay back your student loans), why would you want to work in a system that you aren't going to get ahead in?
Steamlining is the key, which should be interesting to watch how it is done.
Anyway... Yay cars!!!! Um... This forum is about cars..... right?
