Well you will probably see it since you are part of the US. It just sucks that they will not bring them to Canada.

Why aren't they bringing it to Canada? If you want an STI you should look at importing it from the US. It probably sells for about $15k less there. I was looking at a couple of cars...they were listed at $50k CDN, but the same car was $34K US. That is HUGE price difference, and with our dollar so high, it just doesn't make sense that they are raping us on pricing up here like that

exactly. why pay that much more when the cdn $$ is so close to the US $$. cheaper to import it in since the DOT standards are the same as CDN. even with 8% taxes, that's less money! and you can get one of those STI's for less than MSRP, especially in the NW where it's subie country! tons of dealerships!

Ya exactly. I'm sure the subie dealers up here are stuck up and won't deal. There aren't very many of them.
And you only have to pay gst...and I think you don't pay duty on cars made in the US, only if they are imports. It would save a ton of money. A bit more effort and paperwork, but probably worth it for $10k savings.
If I get my S2000 in the future, and pricing is still like this, I will import it for sure.

They still nail you for importing a car into Canada, whether it is made in the USA or not. I know of a few people who have done this and they still got charged a lot of $$$ to get it over the border.
It does still come under the CDN sticker price, which I agree should be MUCH lower because of the difference with the dollar. But since we are so used to the higher prices they have not moved them figuring we are stupid and don't know anything.

well, i think it's mainly because if the cdn $ goes down again, then they are screwed. plus, people will generally pay more to save the hassle of importing anyways. glad we didn't have to pay anything when we imported phil's vibe. lol.

Yeah see that would be a little different because he was the original owner of the car already, where as if I went across the border and bought a new car they would want $$$ before I came back.

Yeah, you have to pay. But in many cases, the total cost will still be WAY below what you pay up here for the car. I'd rather pay $3000 in GST to import it and get the car for an overall lower price of $10,000. Ok, mostly I'm just pissed that they rip us off. I'd consider importing even if I could save $100

Yeah I am not too impressed that there is still a huge price gap between us and the USA when the dollar is not that much off. Just does not make sense.

well, what sucks for you guys, is that i can go over to canada, buy a car and not pay anything (because AK doesn't charge taxes) to import it to the US. however, if i were to move to CA, then i'd be paying a crapload to the state of Calif for ANYTHING, new or used, to be tagged and licensed there.
