I'm looking for a good tinting place in Edmonton area. Can anyone recommend someone? Either that or when I'm down in Calgary next month I may pop in to the place that was recommended in the "window tinting" GB thread.

Well if you are coming down to Calgary...best place to go is Shadow Tinting. They are awesome......and for a good price also.

How long would my car be out of service while they put the tint in? 3 windows.

Just gave a phone call to both Icon Auto Tinting and Shadow tinting. Here is the info that I got.
As quoted for 2005 Toyota Matrix, 5 windows
Shadow Tinting: $292.60 + tax Lifetime warranty on bubbling and fading. Any tint lvl. (High performance)
Icon Auto Tinting: $169 + tax Lifetime warranty on bubbling and fading, scratch guard. Any tint lvl.
Pro and cons for either of these companies?

I have never seen any of Icon's work.....so I can not tell you first hand. BUT if they are doing it for less....I would be somewhat skeptical. Just my 2 cents though.
I have seen Shadow Tint's work and it is very good. But maybe someone here has dealt with Icon.

I dealt with Shadow Tinting for my 3M clear hood protector. They were pretty professional with the application and delivered it on the promised time. No problems.

I have seen Shadow Tint's work and it is very good. But maybe someone here has dealt with Icon. I had the windows in my Jetta tinted at Icon. I had 20% on the back three windows. Very good install. No bubbles. That's where I plan on getting my Vibe tinted in the spring. With the Vibe I think I'll go with 10%. I was quoted $209 for 10%.

on just the rear windows, or front ones too? man, 10% sounds pretty dark. not sure what your tint laws are there, but here, we're only allowed 70% in front (factory) and 40% rear.

We can go as dark as we want on the windows behind the driver. But we are not allowed to put ANY tint on the windows beside and in front of the driver. That is here in Alberta anyways.
