I haven't had a problem using my normal tires in the winter, is it really bad for you all when it comes to traction?

you all? are you meaning GT owners? i think it depends on the tires we got. i have the dunlop z rated ones so there isn't any traction in the snow and ice!

I haven't had a problem using my normal tires in the winter, is it really bad for you all when it comes to traction? I went through last winter with just my continentals on. They were brand new (Oct.) and I didn't find it too bad. This year with my new car, they are a bit more worn...so we'll see today how they do out there. Don't know how slippery it is, but it's snowing still.

I just got Michelin X Ice put on today and will be going to Big White near Kelowna tomorrow afternoon. Will be looking for snow to try them out. 205/55-16" in Kelowna cost $166 Cdn. Full set installed at KalTire was under $850. Original skins on my '04 Vibe are no good in snow- wore out pretty fast too! Will let you know how they work in mountain snow!

I have Toyo Observe Garit-HT...or some shit like that. It's good for traction but not the best when there is a heavy amount of water on the road. If you drove through a puddle that stretches about 6 feet that is roughly 2cm deep, it could possibly hydroplane...but then again, I've seen worse.

just put my studded hancook winter radials on yesterday. it snowed fri a good 6" and i barely made it up the road to the house, only to get stuck in my driveway. neighbor kids had to come dig me out! it was ambarrassing! 10 feet from the garage!

I hope this reply goes to the right part of this forum. I popped on the Michelin X-Ice skins and went to the local ski hill. Last year I couldn't get up several of the mountain roads. This year, no problem. I hope I don;t get too cocky!!! The X-ice tires are great and really blew the doors off the original all-seasons that came with the car.
