So on the July long weekend 4 of us, my fiance, my brother, his girlfriend and I went out to Jasper for a little camping/hiking action. I loaded up the 'Trix with more kit then I have ever shoved into a vehicle before. I actually had to lower the short rear seat and have two people in the back still. A little cramped on a 4 hour journey. Anyway, the car had probably more than 5 times the weight it normally carries.
I filled up in Edmonton prior to leaving the city and no word of a lie, I made it to Jasper and drove for 2.5 days on the same tank of gas! 650kms! And I only fueled up because I needed to get some for the return journey! I got better mileage on that tank of fuel then I do with the normal commute between Edmonton and Wainwright (200kms one way). Anyone have an explanation for the exceptional mileage? Especially since it should have been lower....
One more point, since the car was so loaded down with items, I took the time to see what it would look like with lowered suspension. Wow! I think that I need to find some coin to get my Hotchkiss system.

Uh, maybe your car likes the higher altitude? That's one thing I do sure miss about the Vibe. Awesome gas mileage. I just drove to Lethbridge and back...so about 400km's in total. Just barely made it on one tank of gas. The 7 hour drive to Vernon in August to my mom's new place is going to cost me like $200 in gas

I can get to Grassland from Calgary on a tank of gas, which is just under 600km. And I usually have about an 1/8th of tank left. I find that the 6th gear on the XRS makes a huge difference with the gas mileage. That is definetely great gas mileage! I am thinking maybe cause the car was so packed and lower to the ground it got better aerodynamics. LOL LOWER YOUR CAR!!!!!

Ok.. pictures. I have some video from one of the things that I did in Ontario, but it is huge and I don't have the time to up load it anywhere. When I get back to my computer on Monday I'll find somewhere to host it. Otherwise, check out the pics at www3.telus.net/mwallebeck/ You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll probably forget you saw them immediately after viewing them. Anyway, cheers!!

Ok, ok already, I'll get some freakin pictures of the car. But only after she's had a bath. Just a little dirty from her trip to the mountains.
