Well I was at work yesterday.....finished cleaning my car....had the car in the garage drying off....went to start it.......and the check engine light was on! And the car would not rev past 3000rpm. So I took the negative post off the car to reset the ECU.....left it off for about 15 minutes......put it back on and tried starting again. Same problem! So Ryan was able to get a hold of a code reader....put it on the car and found out that the MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor on the CAI was no good! We were able to find one at Heninger Toyota. So $275 later.....brand new MAF and the check engine light is gone.
I have no idea why it went or what caused it to go.....hopefully this is not a re-occuring problem. I read through matrixowners.com and found that one other person had the same problem as I did and he had to replace his MAF sensor as well.
I am just glad that it is fixed! Expensive fix though.

Actually, I had the same problem right before Xmas. Mass air flow sensor died and the car only had 15k miles. I got lucky though. The first dealer refused to touch it with the CAI on it so I limped it home and swapped the stock intake back in and took it somewhere else who replaced it under warranty. Pain in the behind, but much cheaper.

There was a MAF on e-bay for like $7. But you never know if it's good. I'm surprised its not under warranty.

Well for one my warranty is up on the car with having over 100,000km on the odometer........PLUS with having a CAI....not gonna happen.

So a couple of days after I replaced the MAF sensor.....the new one died on me too! Needless to say I was not impressed. Went back to Heninger Toyota and they warranted the part for me since it was obvious that the part was defective.
I have to say....Heninger Toyota has been very good to me in the warranty department....my clutch, my transmission, and now the MAF sensor. I would definetely be buying from them the next time I buy a car.
