Those are not bad gains at all. But only 40hp?? I would thing for $1500 you would get more.....but just the way it goes I guess. Either way......any horespower increase is good.

What is sad though is that Subaru claims 250hp.....when the actual is only 196hp!! That is a big drop!! Yes you lose power through the drivetrain....but still that is a lot.
I think that with the Matrix claimed hp from Toyota is 180hp....where as the actual is closer to 155hp. Still a good drop.....just not as much.

I've seen some dynos, one done here at Davenport...stock SRT-4's are pulling about 215 to 220 hp at the wheels ;D

Yeah....which seems about right for the power loss from the drivetrain. What does not help the subie's is that they are AWD....so there is more loss through transfer cases etc.

yes, the math doesn't make sense that it's only 196 whp. it should be around 220 whp since bhp is 250. but it would be 50 hp gain w/ turbo back exhaust and chip, but look at the torque increase! 250 to 345! the chip alone (stage 1) will bring it to 285 bhp/300 lb-ft tq. and that runs about $650.

The math is about right. An awd drive car loses about 20% hp, vs a fwd or rwd - which loses about 15%.
Sounds like you have some awesome upgrades available for that car!

Definetely some good upgrades available for the Subie and for the SRT-4. Makes me want to get an Sti even more now because of all the upgrades that are available. I would get a used Sti though......that way there is less warranty to worry about if any.....and possible whomever had it has made some upgrades already.
